Descending the Mountain – movie screening and discussion in Tampere

What happens when you administer psilocybin to experienced zen meditators who have never used a psychedelic substance before? Could the combination of psilocybin and meditation expand our understanding of the nature of consciousness? 

These questions are explored in the beautiful documentary Descending the Mountain, which follows the pioneering cooperation of neuroscientist Franz Vollenweider and zen master Vanja Palmers on the sphinxlike Mount Rigi in Switzerland. Descending from the mountain of bliss, our protagonists lead us into deep thinking about how to integrate the fruits of potentially transformative experiences into our day-to-day life.

On Tuesday June 3rd, on 6PM, Psykedeelisen sivistyksen liitto (PSL / Association for Finnish Psychedelic Education & Culture) will sceen the documentary in Kulttuurikeskus Kaista, Tampere. After the screening, we’ll have time for an audience discussion on the themes of the film.

The language of the film is mostly English with a bit of German and will be shown with Finnish subtitles, with added English subtitles for the German parts. 

The event takes place in Kulttuurikeskus Kaista, Hatanpään Valtatie 34, entrance E, 2nd floor. The venue is wheelchair accessible, though unfortunately a wheelchair-accessible toilet is not available. The screening starts exactly at 6PM, so to avoid long queues, we kindly ask everyone to arrive in good time.
